Digicel chairman Denis O’Brien confirmed the death of the 47-year-old married father of three who took over as CEO in February to replace Colm Delves.
“No words can adequately express our sadness at Alex’s passing or our gratitude for having worked with him,” O’Brien said in a statement issued today.
“Digicel has lost a committed, hard-working and exceptional Chief Executive. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know him on a personal level have lost a dear friend.”
O’Brien has taken up the role of interim CEO at Digicel which has operations in 31 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and Asia Pacific. He will travel to Jamaica on January 2.
